Which services do Caerphilly businesses use us for?
Most of our work for businesses in the borough falls into four areas. Website prices are on our packages page.
Websites. Web design for trades, makers and local shops, ecommerce when you sell online, and web app development for quoting tools or customer portals.
Getting found. SEO for Google's map and organic results, plus AI search work so ChatGPT and Google's AI answers can recommend you.
Bringing in demand. Google Ads, content and email for when you need enquiries faster than organic search can deliver them.
Saving time. AI automation, CRM set-up and AI training for owners and their teams.
What is the Caerphilly county borough economy built on?
The borough is home to about 175,900 people (ONS, Census 2021), spread along a run of valley towns. The council's regeneration strategy names five principal town centres: Caerphilly, Ystrad Mynach, Blackwood, Bargoed and Risca (Caerphilly County Borough Council).
Making things. Manufacturing is the borough's dominant sector, with 11,000 jobs and 20.4% of all employment in 2020, against 11.2% across Wales and 7.9% across Great Britain (Caerphilly council employment evidence paper). That work is spread across sites including Oakdale Business Park, Penallta, Tredomen Park in Ystrad Mynach, Pantglas in Bedwas, Caerphilly Business Park and the Heads of the Valleys estate at Rhymney.
Visitors. Cadw has invested over £8 million in Caerphilly Castle, the biggest castle in Wales, and its restored Great Hall reopened in July 2025 (Welsh Government). In the year that followed, visitor numbers climbed to about 20% above pre-pandemic levels (Medievalists.net). The council also counts Cwmcarn Forest and Llancaiach Fawr Manor among the borough's key attractions (Caerphilly County Borough Council).
Trades and services. Around all of this sits a large community of electricians, builders, plumbers, cleaners and other local services, most of them small teams working across several towns at once.
How do people search for local businesses in the valleys?
Valley geography shapes search. Someone in Bargoed may never type "Caerphilly" at all. They search "plumber Bargoed" or "electrician Blackwood", or just "near me" and let their phone fill in the rest. A business whose site only mentions Caerphilly can miss the towns further up the valley.
So for trades businesses we write a genuine page for each town you cover, with the jobs you do there, the streets and villages you reach and reviews from customers nearby. It is the approach we took on the Pest & Property Solutions site, which has twelve location pages.
Your Google Business Profile matters just as much. For local service searches the map results often sit above everything else, so your service area, categories, photos and reviews need to be complete and current. Our SEO work covers the site and the profile together.
Competition also comes from the south. Caerphilly sits just north of Cardiff, and plenty of city firms list the borough as a service area. A local business with a clear, specific site and strong reviews can beat them on its own patch.
What works for the borough's main types of business?
Trades and home services
Show your phone number and a short quote form on every page. Caption photos of real jobs with the town ("new consumer unit, Ystrad Mynach"). Ask every happy customer for a Google review, and set up an automated request so it happens without you having to remember.
Manufacturers and engineering firms
Your buyers often sit outside the borough, so write for them: what you make, the materials and processes you use, the sectors you supply and how to request a quote. A downloadable capability statement and a proper careers page both earn their place.
High street shops and cafés
In Blackwood, Bargoed or Risca, most customers already know your street. What they check online is whether you are open, what is on and whether you take bookings. Keep those details the same on your site, your Google Business Profile and your social pages.
Tourism and hospitality
Visitors to the castle, Cwmcarn Forest or Llancaiach Fawr plan on their phones, and many now ask AI assistants for ideas. Answer their practical questions on your pages: parking, opening times, distance from the castle, whether dogs and children are welcome. Add structured data so search engines and AI tools read your hours and prices correctly.
What will a website cost a Caerphilly business?
Our prices are fixed and public. Every package is + VAT on a 12-month term and goes live within 30 days.
- Kickstart, £350 a month: up to 10 pages. Enough for most sole traders and small trades firms covering a handful of towns.
- Accelerate, £650 a month: up to 25 pages. Room for a page per service and per town, which suits a growing trades business or a manufacturer.

Can you work with us when you are based in Cardiff?
Yes. Roddy Digital is based at 11-13 Penhill Rd, Pontcanna, a short drive down the A470 or over Caerphilly Mountain. We have no office in the borough.
Calls happen on Zoom and are recorded, which suits busy owners: you can join between jobs and replay the detail later. If you would rather sit down face to face, come to the Pontcanna office by arrangement.
Every project is led by me. I have fifteen years in websites and digital marketing and began my career in sales, so I write sites around what makes a customer pick up the phone. In earlier roles I worked on brands including Vodafone, Sainsbury's, Airbus and LVMH. I founded Roddy Digital in 2021.
What should you ask before hiring a web designer in Caerphilly?
- "What will it cost in total, and what happens after the first year?" Monthly prices look small until set-up fees and renewals arrive. Get the full picture in writing.
- "Will you write the copy?" Few trades owners have time to write a page for every town and service. If the designer expects you to, the site will stall.
- "How will I show up in Blackwood, Bargoed and Risca?" A good answer covers location pages and Google Business Profile service areas.
- "Can I see results from a business like mine?" Look for enquiries and rankings, ideally with real numbers attached.
- "What about AI search?" Ask how they make your business readable to ChatGPT and Google's AI answers. You can test your current site in about 20 seconds with our free Cited AI visibility check.
